Getting There...

Sunday, January 15, 2012

I am very consistent about drinking at least 8 glasses of water, eating at least 5 servings of fruits and veggies, and exercising at least 30 minutes every day. I am really at the point where I am on auto-pilot with these healthy habits. My problem...consistently tracking what I eat. I do it most days, but I don't consistently do it every day and I don't always include everything.

I know this is the reason that I have been pretty much stuck in the same 10 pound back and forth range for the last few months. Time to step it up. Tracking is the habit I need to work on. When I do it, it works for me. I have done it enough to fully understand the benefits of doing it, so I don't need to be convinced that it is something I need to do. I know it is. What I need to do is to stop making excuses and make it a priority. I need to be honest with myself about what I am eating - EVERY DAY, not just when I am making good choices.

My plan is to commit to honestly track everything for the next week - seven days in a row. I will encourage myself to keep on track by blogging about it each day, knowing that I will receive encouraging comments from SP buddies as I do so. That is my plan, and I am sticking with it!

emoticon goal. Like others before have said, nutrition is key to our weight loss effort. If we get the "hang" of that then more than 75% of our weight loss battle is won!

Good for you! I have no doubt this will make a real difference for you.

I still have to figure out what habit/goal I'll be working on.

Tracking is so hard...but so important. I have the SP tracker right on my phone so I can make myself track everything I eat right away. It really helps to keep me honest and see where I need to make changes. emoticon

YEP you can do it!! I have had several people tell me - it's 80% about the food you put in your mouth and 20% exercise.

That sticks with me.

I totally agree. Myself, I'm not-so-good about fitness, but I've got the diet tracking down to a science, lol. You work on nutrition tracking, I'll work on exercise tracking!
