New Habit - Freggies

This week the 5%Challenge Team Living the Good Life Challenge is to blog on a new habit I want to work on. It has been hard for me to get my freggies in. So at the beginning of the year I had made it a goal to eat at least 5 servings a day. I have to really think about it, but most days I have made it. One thing I have added is green peppers with my breakfast eggs. I am also trying to have one freggie snack a day, plus a salad at either lunch or supper.

Another thing I did this week, I was on the January Jumpstart Challenge. I was finding that it stressed me more than it should. I was trying to do my trainer workouts, cardio, and walking DVD. It was too much. I figured since I was exercising regularly , I really didn't need that challenge. So, I left the team. It was a relief.

I had a good cardio interval workout at the gym this morning.

I am revising my daily goals a little to condense them a little.


Daily Goals:
1. Exercise
A. 75 - 120 min a day : emoticon120min
B. Gym (4-5x's a week): emoticon
C. Home Exercise

2. Water
--Drink 10-12 glasses a day (80-96 oz) Sat = 10 glasses emoticon

4. Food
--stay within calorie range of 1400-1600 calories a day emoticon
--5 servings Freggies = Sat 7 servings emoticon
--curb mindless snacking, drink water emoticon
--try a new recipe each month for a total of 12 recipes (1 recipe last week)

Misc.
1. Blog daily - emoticon
2. Write lists of what I need to do each day -- emoticon

    Great daily goals. It's a winning combination. Lots of exercise and food aligned. Love that "freggie" word.

I do ok with the freggies because I really do like them. The water is a struggle and I know I'm going to have to up the cardio for the weight to come off at a decent rate.

    WTG on those freggies! And I agree - no need to add more stress to your exercise routine. I have joined that challenge, too, and have quickly fallen behind to the point I'm not doing it at all. Ah well.

    Great goal! This is one goal your body will say thank you for many times over. Nothing like getting nutrients direct from the food (versus multivitamin). Freggies need a little oil in part of the meal in order to adequately process all their fine nutrients. I love my freggies!

    Your goals are always amazing to me ... Don't know how you do it all! Hope you can work in the Freggies throughout the day ... 1@ breakfast, lunch, a snack, and 2 or more at dinner (usually salad & a side of veggies.) you were right to drop a team/challenge that added stress instead of encouragement for you!     8 H20 and 5 Freggies are a part of my 100 day challenge starting yesterday. I always come so close but it has been hard to be consistent with it. Good luck. Your other goals show how much progress you are making. Great exercise and other goals too!

    Yeah for upping the Freggies! I have tried to do that too Carrie. Buying the veggies (hardest for me to keep up) and prepping them in advance seems to help my intake, or getting the baby carrots (easy to munch for the crunch). The organic spinach from Sam's Club is great to have on hand. It's a big container and I love adding it to my eggs in the am. or sauteeing it in a bit of olive oil and seasoning for dinner. I serve that alot. Roasted kale is another fav of mine too! Glad you are developing that habit; I feel better overall with trying to change it up in a good way too!

    Way to go! You might even find that you begin craving fruits and veggies. I for one, have to have some sort of fruit everyday. I hate winter when the fruits aren't as varied, plentiful or sweet; and I miss fresh corn on the cob in the summer.Um, Um good!

    Good for you, recognizing that the team was putting unnecessary stress on you! I found the same thing in December. I had too many challenges that I had joined, and couldn't keep up with them all. I am more selective now. I realized I don't have to sign up for every one!
