Slipping and A-Sliding, and Ice Gliding

This morning Winnie and I went for our usual Constitutional walk. It looked like a nice day, so I wasn't really paying attention to where my feet were going.
But then Winnie slipped sideways. He never does that!
I very soon found out why he did it. There was black ice all over the driveway.
So okay. We would walk up the driveway (it's a steep one!) to the road, and we would stay on the grass.
Right. The GRASS had black ice on it too.
We persevered, and finally made it up to the road. Ah. This ought to be much easier!
Uh, not really. The road was covered with black ice too, and so was the grass along side it.
Those of you who know me and Winnie know we are not quitters. We kept on going, sometimes actually walking, most times slipping and a-sliding.
I tried doing a "skater's step", and found that my feet would actually glide along the top of the road.
Hey, wait a minute! Maybe this doesn't have to be so treacherous after all. I haven't ice skated in around 50 years. I wonder if I remember "how"?
So I let the leash all the way out and tried gliding with the other foot. Hey! It worked! I "skated" the rest of the way to the mailbox and back, a total of 1/2 mile.
It was raining when we left, but snowing by the time we got back. the hill down the driveway wasn't any better, and it is too steep to "ice glide", so it took us quite a while to arrive at the front door.
But we were smiling when we got home. I am not sure if Winnie was smiling because he was HOME, or if he actually had fun on the walk, but at least he got to do his doodie without falling over.
I came upstairs and did my first day of the 28 day Boot Camp DVD. Or perhaps I should say I did MY version of the first day.
Nicole looked all organized and together, like she knew what she is doing.
I, on the other hand, looked a lot like a frog in the blender. My legs and arms were all over the place, all akimbo, and even YeowLing didn't stay in the room with me, which she usually does.
But I kept on moving, so I am taking credit for it.
I have no doubt Nicole and this boot camp are going to kill me. I suspect she is from a different planet, in that she can do all these moves so smoothly.
I am going to go in to my quilt room and safely cut out another quilt to sew.
I wonder if they quilt on Nicole's planet??
