My Walk and a Project

Saturday, January 14, 2012

Hi SparkFriends!

Just putting up a little something to let you know how things are going. I'm not working out as much as I'd like. I am trying to be mindful about my eating. Sleep is a bit of a challenge, and I'm blaming work stress for that. Next week will be crazy, so I'm using this holiday weekend to rest up and recharge.

I didn't send holiday cards this year. Once upon a time I'd send out 100+; all hand-addressed and hand-signed with a thought or two. It was a multi-night effort, with my husband helping with envelopes, return addressing and stamps. The list has whittled down and now the list is much shorter.

For whatever reason, I just wasn't feeling it this year. But there are a few folks that I always send cards to and I wondered how to make that work. I eventually decided to "not," opting instead to write notes after the holidays. I hope they'll be received as a nice surprise.

Today's adventure took me out of the house to fetch stamps and stationary. After all, a plain white letter in a plain white envelope isn't very interesting! I also remembered that the art supply shop is around the corner from the stationery store, so I picked up some fun pens, too.

Quite a loot haul, eh?

So I'm going to ponder my notes and think about what I want to say and where I'll be sending those thoughts. Have a great weekend and, if you like, keep others in your thoughts; drop a line to them, even!

I've upped my exercise but could still eat better. I am practicing mindful eating though and have slowed down a lot. Sleep is off and on for me but I am doing better for longer periods.

I stopped sending cards a few years back. No one responded. I now send them to family and friends who send me one. I usually include a short note. So have mine have been taken care of for a while. I hope you enjoy yours.

I love it! I didn't send any cards this year either! I have noticed that every year i get fewer and fewer. (I don't think I have ever written 100+ )
Your trip to find stationary has inspired me. Going to get some fun stationary while I'm out today.! hugs. Tricia emoticon

Hope the stress level lessens soon and you can get some good sleep.

The after Christmas note is a neat idea ~ sometimes the best things in life are those that are unexpected.

well you have sparked me - that is exactly what I decided to do when the first week of Dec was over. As the cards came in - I decided I will send a Happy New Year card instead. And guess what - its Jan `15 and I'venot done it -

Thanks for the reminder and enjoy your project - it will be the blessing in your life as you face your stressful week. My crazy week just ended and the next 2 will continue but will decrease each day. Come on February!!

Thanks for sharing

Trish, I loved this blog and the thoughts of those you'll be writing notes to! I think a note after Christmas would be a delight. We've become so used to the routine of cards, emails, text messages that we've really lost the art of writing. Good for you!

And yes, that's a haul I'd like to make!

Have a great 3-dayer.
