Results I can live with!

Friday, January 13, 2012

Two weeks ago I had a colonostophy. While in recovery room, my Dr. Told me he removed two polyps and then he told his nurse to make an appt. for me in two weeks to discuss my results. As much as I tried not to worry, I lost a lot of sleep these last 2 weeks. Yesterday I called his office to see if he could call me with the results as we were expecting an ice storm on top of yesterday's snow storm. She told me the dr. Needed me to see him in person...that didn't do much for my sleep last night.
Today I drove in the ice storm by myself as my wife was very sick all night (food poisoning? ). The 30 minute drive took 75 minutes. I checked in, saw the dr. And was on my way in less than 10 minutes! He told me one polyp was benign and one was pre-cancerous and that it was fortunate for me I had the proceedure now.
Needless to say, I floated out of the office and cheerily made my way home, blessing (instead of cursing) several of my fellow snow driving challenged travelers.
In my old lifestyle I would have ate my way through the last two weeks, thanks to my new SP lifestyle, I ate my plan, logged 750 minutes of exercise and lost two pounds despite low energy due to lost sleep.

God is good! ......snow is magical, the smell of pine trees..intoxicating!

I am breathing a sigh of relief with you over the good news. Too bad you had to risk your life on the road to get it. You handled the stress admirably and proved you learned you lessons at SP well. They may have to make you an "honorary coach"

Take care

So glad you had the test and the results came out good. I know the prep for the test isn't fun, but knowing that everything is okay is worth it. I have had one, and need to go back for another in 2013 due to family history. My mom had a malignant tumor on her appendix, so the doctor wants me in every 5 years now.

what reassuring news,I am glad you managed to control the eating while you waited. It shows your year on Sparkpeople has been a real education that has been proven excellent.

Good for you for having the test done!! Polyps are a common thing in my family and it drives me crazy how many of my family members won't have a colonoscopy. My aunt died from colon cancer that she never knew she had until she felt the tumor on the outside of her body. She was around 70 and should have already had many routine colonoscopies by that time!

Glad everything was ok! Even more glad that you were able to avoid the stress eating. Awesome job!
