Today is January 12th and I am so proud!
I have been carrying on my merry little way since New Years and just realized that my habits are changing for the better.
I have had 0 sweets!
Not one slice of cake.
These things have been replaced with fruit and sugar free hot cocoa. Splurges consist of reduced sugar peanut butter (love Simply Jiff!) or dark chocolate almond butter on apples or bananas, but I've limited those amounts, too.
No junk food!
No fast food at all.
No Doritos, or Cheetos, or chips and dip. Instead, I had small portions of baked potato chips and multi-grain Tostitos with loads of fresh salsa.
When faced with eating out, I ordered steamed chicken and vegetables with brown rice and enjoyed every bite.
Lower fat dairy!
Just skim or 1% milk.
Only low fat, part skim cheese.
Real (satisfing and I believe healthier than oil-based) butter and cream cheese, just whipped and in 1/2 portion servings.
No sugary drinks!
No fruit juice.
Not one drop of (regular) pop.
The most diet Coke I've had in a day was 12 oz.
Instead, regular v8 is my afternoon boost, and my water goals have been met every day.
Conventional wisdom says it takes six weeks for a habit to be replaced, and I realize this is just the beginning, but it feels great! Not only have these healthy changes been happening, they're being replaced without much effort at all. It's a great start, and I am so proud.
