Let the next 5 months of training begin

For some reason and most of which are irrational I need a goal to get motivated to be healthy.
I have never been thin, but as a young adult I always made an effort to get to the gym at least 4 days a week. Although, once I met my fiance 6 years ago the comfort pounds seemed to be easier to digest.
Turning 30 was an amazing motivator to lose as much as possible and be the healthiest me I could be, losing 20lbs in 6 months. Once my birthday passed I managed to slip right back into my comfortable eating and less active patterns. (It helped that my fiance was just as motivated as I was when I lost the weight)
The other thing that I have noticed works for me is to sign up and train for a road race. In May of last year I ran a 9k and it might have been one of the easiest races (although the longest) I have ever done.
I have gotten to the point where I am at square one with my cardio and weight... Man, is it easier to gain than take it off.
So even with impending weddings as a guest, a bridesmaid and at some point my own that doesn't seem to motivate me to look better in a dress. Instead, I have committed to run a half marathon in May. I know I can do it, might not be the speedy one on the course but it will get done.
I have already planned out my next 5 months of working out and with one week down I feel confident that I can stay on course. Starting with a "5k my way" program, 6 weeks of building endurance before the 12 weeks of half marathon training starts.
I have always wanted to say, "oh, I just ran 10 miles the other day." like it is no big deal.
