Today I took time for me to just relax (even though I was still at work). I decided that it was time for me to just take a little bit of time to think rather than try to "put out fires" all day long. That worked fine until the vet called. The poor little guy took a turn for the worse this morning. The vet had to remove the eye. I was really upset and worried about him. But, I still took my walk during lunchtime. I got a call at the end of the day from the vet. The little guy came through surgery just fine, and I could hear him in the background barking (he hates cages). The vet confirmed that I was indeed hearing my little guy. He will get to come home tomorrow. Although I could pick him up early in the morning, I am going to pick him up in the afternoon--I'll take off work early so I can stay home with him. I think we would both enjoy that more than me taking him home in the morning and then leaving him to go to work. Houston, we have a plan!
On a different note, one of my former students brought me a Christmas/Birthday present. It was a note pad with a fancy pen. He said he saw it and thought of me immediately. Whenever I advise students, I use little sticky notes to make my suggestions on...sometimes filling up a sheet of paper with sticky notes! It was a very appropriate gift and a total surprise. So, I ended the day with a gift and hearing my little one barking. I feel much better now!
