Unexpected exercise opportunity!

Hello my fellow Sparkers! The beginning of this week seems to be draaaagging for some reason. I haven't been able to workout as much as I like, but I'm trying really hard to keep up with it. The biggest problem I've had since the the holidays is my eating. Before the holidays I was always so good about healthy choices and I was able to say "no" to certain foods. Once the holidays hit I was good at first, but eventually I gave in. I wasn't horrible, but I could feel the portion sizes creeping up and I had way too many sweets. Now it's hard again. Hard to say "no" to the sweets, hard to eat the correct portion size, hard to make sure there are healthy choices in the house. UGH! I feel like I have to relearn everything! BUT, I'm doing it and that's the most important thing!

On a positive note, I was able to get some AWESOME cardio done yesterday. My 8 year old daughter takes dance classes and we (the Moms) usually wait around for an hour until they're done. Well, recently some of the Moms started walking during these times and they asked me to come along with them. Even though I had jeans on I was wearing tennis shoes so I figured "why not"? So we left and WOW do these Moms walk! People who've walked with me in the past have told me that I am a fast walker - not compared to these women! We did 3 miles in 45 minutes and half of it was uphill! We even jogged a little bit on the downhill portion. I'm sore today and loving it. These women do it 2-3 times a week because they're at the studio a lot. I can only make it on Tuesdays, but I'm determined to make it an addition to my regular routine!

I felt so much better after that. That night my hubby asked if I just wanted to stop and get some fast food somewhere because it was getting late and I said NO. I didn't want to ruin all the good I had just done for my body. I finally realized that I was feeling so sluggish because of the crappy foods I was putting into my body. Well, no more! My calorie intake was 1261 yesterday and it felt good. Gonna try to keep it there from now on!

    Been feeling a little of the same myself since the holidays. Parents are heading home in a few days then it's back on plan. All the "goodies" are going in the trash next Thurs! Nice to know its not just me with obstacles this early in the year!

    I love opportunities like that! It's really amazing how one decision can affect so many others throughout the day. Feeling healthier really is a domino effect.

I know what you mean about the holidays. I got in some pretty bad habits that have been hard to stop.
