Update on Prayer Request

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

It has been a very tense day. Jarod turned himself in and of course, was arrested and put in jail to await the bonds person to come and set his bond. We were told when we first called it would be 3pm and if not then, 6pm, then it turned into 8pm and then 8pm became 10pm. Soo, we've been sitting on pins and needles all day, praying, worrying, wondering if it would be anything we could do something about and on and on. It was a GOOD thing I got my daily bible reading and my prayers prayed before receiving the call, or I would have been a horrible mess!

Finally, it was set, a $500 full cash bond, meaning it has to be paid in full before he can be released, PLUS $55.00 in booking, bond and housing fees. Jarod had some money, $160.00 which means we had to come up with $395.00. We were able to borrow that from my mom, THANK GOD! Plus, I got a $50 American Express gift card that I can use for gas to get there and back, it is a little over a 2 hour drive just to get there.

So, pray that the $50 is enough in gas, and that there aren't anymore fees we aren't aware of.

Since his vehicle is uninsured, we wanted to put it on our insurance and drive it home tomorrow, but we don't have the gas money to get it home and as of right now, nobody to borrow it from. PLUS, we might even have to pay to get insurance on it, but was hoping we could put insurance on it, by just adding it to our policy long enough to get it home and be billed for it. We are figuring that his license will be suspended for a year due to this...

I don't think I mentioned this in my prayer request blog, but the main reason I was worried is because this was his 2nd offense with no insurance, he had gotten a fine about 6 months ago, here in this county where I live. On his arrest record online it did not say anything about a hit and run, just his 2nd offense with no insurance and that is a STEEP penalty here in KY. Thankfully, if he does not have to serve anymore time in jail, he can live in his dorm (which opens Thursday) and is within walking distance everywhere else he needs to go, work, classes, etc...

Anyway, we (hubby and I) plan on leaving in the morning so I had better get to bed soon. Hopefully I can sleep, have been wound all day!

Goals accomplished today:
1. Bible read
2. Prayers prayed
3. 4 cups water
4. 2 hours tutoring

I'm surprised I have the sense to even know what I accomplished today!
Goodnight and thanks for the continued prayers,
Shan

P.S. Cannot believe I have been so open about this on here, hope it does not come back to bite me.

    Hi Shan;

Darling that is why we are here for one another to hold your hand during hard times. My prays are with all of you and safe travel. May this open a door for Jarod that he must obey laws and keep hisself straight so he can be a strong mature educated man. May God touch him and help him. Stay strong in God's arms and you will survive this. God bless you always.

Your Friend,

Joyce

What a difficult day! You must be wrung out.

I'm sorry this involves so much financial cost & hassle for you & John. Praying that Jarod will learn a good lesson from this & realize that he needs to be responsible.

Love & blessings to you, friend.

Ditto what everyone here said about kids/parents. All we can do is the best we can in guiding them; they still have to learn their own lessons as adults!

I'm glad you all are getting through it step by step. I hope you had a restful sleep!

Keeping you and Jarod in my thoughts. I agree w/Nikki. Nobody will judge you based on the actions of your child in this circumstance. We've all had our moments or lapses in better judgement and we learn from them. Hugs to you.

That definitely is a rough place to be right now (mentally). I am still praying for you and your family. I had to go back and read the other blog because I apparently missed it. Anyway, hang in there.

So glad that you were able to get the money together Shannon. I am so happy to hear that you can get him out. Just take it one step at a time. I will be thinking about you tomorrow.
There is no reason that this should come back to bite you..no parent can say their kid hasn't messed up and no person can say they haven't! Hugs to you!! Sleep well.
