my car

Sunday, January 08, 2012

Today I got bad news on my car. I will have to go and have the engine rebuilt. When the car shop changed the oil they didn't get the plug back in right and it blew all the oil out of the engine. Now I have no car until I can get it fixed. I don't know how I will pay for it. All I can hope for is to be able to make payments on it. I will find out more on Monday when I get it diagnosed.

I knew a lady at church years ago, same thing happened to her - this has been most of 35 years ago, as I was still living at home, so I really don't know how she resolved it, but I know there was a lot of talk about it at the time. Your other blog said you had called the Attorney General's office. Yea! Sometimes just making that first step IS the most positive outlook you can take on it. I bet if you posted your story on the Click and Clack Brothers ("Car Talk" its one of the NPR radio shows or maybe off PBS? I dunno), they'd tell you what to do too and how to make it stick!! I am not sure if they mention names but a business does NOT want their mis-deeds being made public - quick way to dry up business. And it doesn't matter if you have owned a car 1 year or 5 years, if your oil is changed every 2-4,000 miles, it still doesn't justify them not putting the oil plug on correctly!!

Well I talked to the car shoppe yesterday and they told me that I have had the car for a year and I should have had the oil changed every 3000 miles. I told them that is just a guideline. I am neglegent in not getting the oil changed but I am not the one who didn't put the plug back in right. Therefore it is still their responsibility. I am going to call a lawyer and then we will see who is at fault.

So sorry to hear that! I had an engine rebuilt in a car once then someone rear-ended me a few months later and totaled my car. The insurance didn't cover the rebuilt engine so I didn't get my money's worth and had to buy a new car. UGH! I hope you can get some help from the car shop.

Please don't turn to eating wrong to deal with this stressor! Do some exercise instead. Thinking of you.

OMG...they admitted to not putting the oil plug back in? They have to pay for the you locate comsumer protection office and get them involved.

I ALWAYS check my oil and look under the car for leaking after an oil change, I have always heard about this happening.

If it was the shops fault, shouldn't they be responsible for fixing it? I would sure inquire about it!
