Weightloss and Birthdays
Saturday, January 07, 2012
My birthday was Tuesday. I am 41 years old and loving it! I feel healthier at 41 than I did at 31...probably because at 31 I was a confirmed couch potato!
Every year on my birthday I call all my friends together and we meet at some restaurant here in Atlanta and have a great time talking, catching up, meeting new folks...all OVER FOOD! This year was different...
I had a game night at my house and announced that there would be no cake and ice cream only healthy snacks. I had baked wings for those that had to feel they were eating "regular" but I had hummus, veggies, fruit trays, nuts , wasabi peas, chips and salsa, veggie chili and only water and light lemonade among others.
Other than one friend from college and a few family members...no one showed up. Everybody had other plans...
My feelings aren't hurt. I had a great time and my husband and a dear friend each treated me out to DINNER (no less...but I did the veggie only thing) twice this week. The thing was trying to figure out why folks were ALL busy the year I wanted to be healthy and ditch the restaurant and big fancy cake etc. (I am known to have 20 or more people in a restaurant at a time!)
Alas...everybody isn't ready to take the journey with me.
I am so proud of myself and thankful to Spark People and all of you for encouraging me and showing me the way to stay in the game. I believe that every little bit helps. Every stomach crunch, every walk, every time I say no to extra carbs...
I did not gain one extra pound over the time from Christmas break through my birthday when I normally put on 6 or 7. Now, I am headed towards my short term goal of weighing less than 200 pounds before Spring. I am going to get there too.
This has been my best birthday in a really long time. I am loving life and I am definitely going to lose this weight!
