Resolved for the Year!

I am not calling this a new years resolution because they have a stigma of not being accomplished. But a goal of mine to achieve by June 2012 is to have gone meatless in my diet. I am starting slow. I want to try one new vegetarian recipe a week and find what I like and build up a sense of rhythm to it, so it works with the flow of my life, but I want to try it. My goal is to get my cholesterol down to healthy level and if I happen to lose a bunch of weight and look absolutely fabulous as a result, well that is just granola on my yogurt!

I am not going to be able to really keep track of weight loss in the traditional way as of now. I had to cancel my gym membership do to unforeseen financial circumstances, but I wasn't really that dedicated to going so things haven't changed much. I have no scale at home so I wont be able to obsessively weigh myself to see if I lost any weight since breakfast, I'm just going to have to go by how I feel and if my old pants from one size ago fit again (*sigh* i miss you smaller jeans). It might be months before I am able to step on a scale. I think I am going to kind of like it. No pressure for that needle to drop.

As for getting my excise in I have started doing workout videos. We have Zumba, Pilates, Belly Dancing. The library i find has quite a selection too so i can keep rotating my workout to different DVD's and never have to stick to the same one. I have talked about starting a kind of rotating/lending system with some of the ladies at my church who are also trying to lose weight. We can share whatever equipment or dvd's we have with one another and that way get to keep changing things up and hopefully we wont get too bored.

    I am working slow myself to cut meat out. I am enjoying it this far but i never was a big meat eater. I got a new Health Master for Christmas and have been making so many smoothies and soup in the machine. Yummy but I am also gaining weight. I think it's to many carb. I am going to really keep track of it and see what is going on. Good luck and take it one day at a time.
