So right after I made my last post I got a head cold and we had a major drop in temperatures up here in New England. I've pretty much stayed in doors since the new years (I'm a stay-at-home mom with a 9 week old).
Baby and I are both feeling better now, so it's time to put those sneakers back on! Here's my plan to get in shape for the half marathon in January 2013:
* Walk 3 5K races this summer
* Walk the Tufts 10K for Women on Columbus Day
* Disney World half marathon, January 2013
TO do so, I'm starting now hitting the pavement (or elliptical) 2x per week, and doing something else 1x per week (strength train, yoga, etc.). I'm still not 100% yet after the birth complications so I'm starting smart and starting gently.
In February I'm going to add another day, in March another day. Of course if I'm feeling great I'll add another day of exercise. I'd like to be able to walk 5K at a 16-minute mile by then end of February. I can do it already for 1.3 miles. So this summer I can do a 14 or 15-minute mile for a 5K!
