Friday Update

Friday, January 06, 2012

Here's what's been happening since I last blogged:
Sunday we had a nice get together with the family at Pizza Jacks to celebrate Christmas. My husband and I ordered a very tasty Mexican pizza with carnitas instead of carne asada...yum!! I got some coffee and an Amazon gift card as presents...pretty good score :-)
Monday I had the day off and did some baking...ginger cookies, bacon brownies and hazlenut muffins. Sorry no pics since I'm at work. I will post them later or tomorrow. I also did P90X Chest & Back using the new pull-up bar. I can bring it down so I can keep my feet on the floor. Works pretty well. I also called KitchenAid and they are sending a replacement mixer.
Tuesday was back at work but first I got in a run :-)
Wednesday was P90X Shoulders &Arms.
Thursday I did 2 miles run. My foot has been sore on both sides. I think my ankle is still not back to normal and those tendons are pissed off. The sole of that foot was also pretty sore during some of the run. My butt has been sore on that side. Not sure if it's piriformis syndrome, sciatica or a pulled muscle. It definitely starts hurting after I start walking and if I bend over.
I have decided to take some rest days...no running, no P90X until at least Monday and then I will re-evaluate. Maybe a week would be a good idea.
I do have the Galloway Running Retreat coming up on the 20th and I would like to be able to participate in some of the runs that weekend. I guess I'll see what I feel like by next Friday. Maybe see if I can defer it to the next time if I'm not up do doing the running.
Happy Friday!!!
Shabbat Shalom!!
Have a great weekend, my friends :-)

Good job on P90X! How do you do the bar with your feet on the floor? I need to try that. Now please take care of yourself and don't overdo, ok? emoticon

Sounds like you've got lots going on! That Mexican Pizza sounds killer!

I'm sorry to hear you're still having foot issues! Definitely rest and see if it improves! Have you incorporated yoga and pilates regularly to strengthen those tendons? I found that really helped me a lot when my joints were weaker.

Anyways - hope you had a fabulous weekend and Happy Monday (or at least as happy as Mondays can be! haha)

Oooh, P90X and running, hehe! Good for you!! I'm already excited you're going to the Galloway retreat, please take lot of notes!!!! We just completed our first week of the new run program (and I'm shamelessly copying off Jeff here), though my first attempt at P90X fizzled out with a week and a half to go. I just don't have it in me right now. But heck, there can always be a round 2! DH has ordered the new pullup assist thingy from BeachBody, and my goal is to try the pullup program Steph and Nina did last year, because I can't do a one! emoticon

Feel better Nat! Hope the rest gives you the break your body needs.
Do you need to return the original kitchenaid you got? What happens in cases like that?

That retreat sounds great, but don't push it. You are just getting back on your feet and I would hate to hear that you pushed too hard and got injured. Have a restful weekend.

Sorry your body isn't cooperating more - sooooo frustrating. I think the rest days are a very good idea. We're all crossing our paws that you'll be able to fully participate in the Galloway clinic - & that's a lot of paws!

Wow – you have been busy Nat!

My chiro said that he was not going to tell me not to run only that running is not good for me. Since I smashed my ankle years ago he said I am not A symmetrical on my left side. I have the same pain as you. I just smile when he says it and tell him I will see ya next week or the next. When he is done with putting bones back when bones go, then I am off to a massage therapist to take care of the muscle/tissues.

I told my Chiro that it only hurts when I run that 1st mile after that there is no pain. He said that is because the endorphins kick in and they are natural pain killers. :-D

I also got back to doing my Pilates which helps allot.

Especially since you were wearing that boot for awhile – maybe a chiro and then a massage? Hope you get some relief and feel better soon. That Galloway retreat sounds awesome!!!

Natalie, I am with Catherine on the massage therapist. My chiro does my ART treatments which is a glorified DEEP DEEP massage that hurts like a booger but very effective. My problems that lead to discomfort is usually bunched up nerves that Dr. Lake works her magic on or the buildup of adhesions on tendons and ligaments, etc.

Have you ever considered going to a good massage therapist? They can actually be quite helpful in diagnosing the sorce of some kinds of pain. I.e. ifs it knots in muscle or coming from the tendons or ligaments or fascia. Or some combination.
