I didn't get a blog done yesterday, but my cardio looked like this:
45 minutes on the stationary bike.
30 minutes walking back and forth to work
30 minutes of shovelling heavy wet snow
This is what my calorie differential chart looked like:
d Calories
Eaten 1,560
BMR* 1,785
Exercise 1,005
Total Burned 2,790
Differential -1,230
*BMR
BMR is your Basal Metabolic Rate, which is the number of calories your body burns on a daily basis to perform its basic tasks like breathing and pumping blood. The BMR calculation is based on your age and weight and accounts for a sedentary lifestyle. The BMR in the chart above has been multipled by 1.2 to account for the calories you need for both basal metabolic functions and light activity outside of exercise (such as light walking on the job, deskwork, and running errands.) Please note that BMR is not a perfect measure.
No wonder I was tired last night! That snow was heavy. I actually slept in this morning, so haven't done any cardio yet, but I will be walking to work again today. The windows are plastered with rain, so I imagine the streets are going to be slippery. I was really glad I did the driveway last night, so that there wasn't a film of rain on top of the snow.
Our winter has been crazy warm here this year. At this point, we are used to it being -41C, not -1C when I wake up. Makes for some nice walks, but I'm just not used to all the ice that we are dealing with this year.
