Because of heart issues I am unable to use nicotine cessation aides such as Nicoderm, Chantix, not even the gums or lozenges... Basically, I was on my own with just the support of myself and my dear husband's nagging voice in the back of my mind.
For months I was trying to 'work my way down' to quitting. It, obviously, wasn't working since I never actually quit. In fact I found myself smoking more...
Finally, at approximately 11:30pm on December 31st, 2011, I dropped the last half of the last cigarette in my pack into an almost empty bottle of water. I QUIT COLD TURKEY!
I HAVE NOT TOUCHED ONE CIGARETTE SINCE!
I stopped getting cravings after day two had passed!
My BFF rents a room from us and she smokes.When she comes back in from smoking the smell is horrendous! I can't believe I let MYSELF smell that way too!
I know it's only been a few days but I feel FANTASTIC! Already noticing big changes.
My '1-Month Smoke-Free' reward is a new hair cut! I can't wait!
At the end of every week, I'll put the money saved from not buying cigarettes into savings towards a new lens for my camera after 1 year smoke free!
