Your Favorite Recipe

I was thinking about my favorite recipes, and none of them are really very healthy. There are a few from an old Weight Watchers cookbook that I have that I have to put all of the ingredients into Spark to calculate the calories, fat, carbs, etc., and while they were "point" friendly they really aren't as wonderfully healthy as I thought.

I got to thinking, we as a group must have some great recipes that we have perfected over time. So, my friends, what are YOUR favorite healthy recipes? Feel free to email them to me if they are worth of sharing!

    My favorite evening snack of recent, when I am 400 calories short and missing a lot of fat and carbs is:

Pita Bread
1 tablespoon Nutella (measure very careful to ensure I don't go over)
Sliced banana


But, even though it is fitting among my foods and tracking, I think I will avoid this and switch to something more wholesome at night to make up my missing nutritents.

    I have been avoiding real cooking for a while and focusing on simple and healthy dishes. Most of the stuff I "cook" is for nutrition purposes and usually not the typical tasty meal. My palate has changed and I appreciate simple foods, like steamed veggies lightly seasoned much more.

I did make some steamed brocolli last night that was better compared to the usual bland fair.

So, here is what I did:

Steamed the broccoli first (3.5 cups, I used frozen this time: Calors 35 x 3.5)

After steaming, I mixed them (while pipping hot) with a sauce I made:

Chili sauce/paste, 1 tsp (~5 calories) (Indo-Asian grocery store)
A few pinches of salt, to taste
Balsamic Vinger, a good high quality one, to taste.
A clove of garlic, minced
1/5 of a medium onion, finely chopped.

It was much tastier then my usual steamed veggies. Balance was the hard part, but I did an okay job this time balancing the vinegar and chilis (I typically go over board on both and it destroys the flavor profile).
