This year I made a decision. I am going to buy candy canes. Lots of them. Right now they are 50 cents or less per box, which means it's the perfect time to stock up.
Now I know candy canes are not healthy. After all, it says 'candy' right in the name. However, I have a job where I sit at a desk for 8 hours. I get bored a lot. I start wanting to eat because of that.
Depending on the type, candy canes have 60 calories or less. They also take a long time to eat a whole one as long as you resist the urge to crunch it up with your teeth. Once you've gotten through one, your sugar or food craving is satisfied and you can make it longer through the day. In my experience, with a bottle of water and a single candy cane I am good for about 2 more hours before I feel like munching again.
And so...while they are not healthy, I think I single candy cane a day at work is the PERFECT thing to keep handy here at my desk for when I get a craving for sweets. I can't wait to get a whole bunch of flavors to tuck away for the next couple of months.
