Wow... I can't believe that I haven't posted a blog in 3 months... I apologize for that! I have been around "on/off"... but around none the less. I'm not gonna try to update you on my results from Oct, Nov & Dec... believe me, they were nothing to write home about anyway! But I will kinda "wrap up" how my year went...
Speaking of year, can you believe that another one is in the books??? My goodness, I swear this year flew by even faster than last year, and I though it went by awfully quickly! Anyway... on to the results:
FINAL 2011 TOTALS:
Weight: 25.8 lbs. GAINED
Body fat %: 4.2% GAINED
Upper arms: 1.5 in. GAINED
Chest: 2 in. GAINED
Waist: 2.5 in. GAINED
Hips: 3.5 in. GAINED
Thighs: 1.75 in. GAINED
Calves: 1.5 in. GAINED
These results don't paint the whole picture of my year. My lowest weight was actually down 9 lbs. from the beginning of the year... my highest weight was 14 lbs. heavier than what is listed above!
I started out the year having my hip replacement surgery, and afterwards basically halting my fitness other than physical therapy for the next 4 months. I worked very hard during that time trying to minimize the damage of not being able to workout, and honestly, I did a pretty good job. At the end of that time, I was actually down about 10 lbs. from where I started the year.
In May, my son (only son, may I add) moved 25 hrs away to Florida to do a college internship at DisneyWorld. While I am very proud of him for earning this opportunity, I took it a little rougher than I realized. I thought I was doing okay w/ it, but realized after a couple of months that I had reverted to old habits and had "fed" my feelings... resulting in a weight gain of almost 50 lbs. in just 4 months!
Since then, I've yo-yo'd up & down about 20 lbs., currently being 14 lbs. down from my high this year of 247 lbs.
My biggest issue is learning to travel w/out gaining weight! That is what has caused most of the yo-yo'ing I've experienced these last couple of months. I did really well in Sept, and then went to the Nascar races for a week. Then I got back on track, and then went to Florida to see my son for a week. I once again got back on track, and then took a vacation w/ my hubby for our anniversary. My next big test will be in a month, when I go visit my son again... I am seriously going to try my hardest to correct the "errors" of my previous trip!
I am extremely determined to get my weight under control once and for all this year... my middle stepson is getting married in May, and I refuse to be the "fat" stepmom at the wedding! Besides that, I have my 25th class reunion the very next weekend... and I'd absolutely love to "wow" my classmates, most of whom haven't seen me since our 20th!
The past several years, I've participated in our local "Pound Plunge", a team weight loss competition that is similar to the Biggest Loser. Well, this year, they have changed everything around and have developed a new program called "Kick Start". It is focused on individuals instead of teams, and on lifestyle changes rather than a weight loss competition. They are providing fitness classes, healthy living presentations, cooking classes, grocery tours, and many other learning experiences that I'm really looking forward to! Tomorrow is the first day, and I'm excited to get it started, as I think it will really help me stay on track and motivated!
So... here I am, starting off 2012 w/ a renewed motivation. I'm still technically healing from my hip replacement, so my workouts are modified, but at least I'm doing them. I have several local people supporting me, which is new for me. I've never really had "live" support before, so this is a very nice change. My neighbor beat breast cancer this year, and afterwards became a certified Zumba & Pilates instructor, so I've been attending her classes whenever my work schedule allows, and her & I have been getting together for workouts at my gym as well. I've gotten a couple of my friends interested in her classes as well, so I have people holding me accountable if I don't show up. I also have a couple of co-workers that have become motivated to get in shape, so I've been working out w/ them after work too. I've even spread my "motivation" to Facebook, sharing my info w/ friends & family on there, and trying to motivate them as well. I'm hoping that all of this will help me stay focused and on track until I finally reach my goal!
