2012! What will I be doing?

2012 started off pretty good. Took a great spin class on Sunday, January 1st. The instructor kicked our butts. Monday, went on a 2 hour hike. First hour was all up hill, a very steep up hill. The way back down was nice and easy, until we realized that we took the wrong path and ended up at a dead end in a cul-d-sac. We were able to walk to our car via the street. Next time, we'll pay better attention. Today, I took an hour spin class and an hour cardio boxing class. So nice.

Today was the day I started to eat better and so far, so good. Breakfast ended up being a Lunar bar because when I got home, I had to take the dogs to the "dog wash" (that's what my son called it when he was younger and it stuck!). It's hard taking 3 dogs. Thank goodness for my son. Came home, ate my bar, showered and then, went to pick up the princess at her friend's house. Sleepover last night. Stayed there for a bit and then, went to the market. By the time I got home, I was starving. Had a huge salad, tuna fish and brown rice. It was really good. I ate some baked bar-b-que chips when I was done. Later, for a snack, I had some almonds and 2 cuties. Dinner was quinoa, cabbage, brussel sprouts and a slice of tri-tip. For dessert, I had coffee (decaf, of course) and a peanut butter oat bran bar. They are so delicious. I might have an apple a little later, not sure.

I had to decide what I was going to accomplish this coming year. What should I do? My friend Seth said that I should do something that I say I can't do, like train for a triathlon or marathon. Ok, first off, I don't swim. So, Seth said, "hire a coach and learn how to swim. Next year, when we discuss the past year, you'll be so happy that you did it." Well, swimming just doesn't appeal to me. So, I really thought about it and here is what I decided:

January 21st - run a 5K with a friend for Charity
February/March - run a half marathon. Not sure which one yet. Have to find one
May - run a half marathon with SWEETNSKINNY in Orange County. Nice along the beach
June 10th - run Camp Pendleton Mud Run with Seth, his wife, 2 of my boys, my DH and my good friend with her son
October - Long Beach full marathon

Okay, it's there, that marathon is typed. Now, I have to do it. Oy, I can't believe I'm going to do this. I've always said, "No way. I can't do a full. My knees can't handle it." Well, this something that I said I can't do. Seth should be proud. Oh, and that full marathon? SWEETNSKINNY said that she'd do that with me, too. So, now, Aunt Terri, brush off your running shoes. You have to do a half now!!

    Sounds like you've got some exciting events to train for this year.

My swimming is pretty abismal but I took a swim clinic put on by a local city and it helped me get through the short pool swims at my 2 tris in 2011.

I don't know why there aren't more halfs in the area in February and March. It seems like the perfect timing weatherwise around here. I'm doing the Pasadena Rock N Roll mid-February just because I got a good deal and then the Pasadena Duathlon in March - hey you might look into a du, no swimming but definitely a challenge. You run a 5k, bike 15k and run 5k again for that one.

I keep saying the same thing about my knees and a marathon but something about seeing all these other people doing it on Spark, almost kind of puts the idea in my head it might not be so far fetched. I think I'll wait a few years though, I'm in no rush at this point.

    Aunt Terry said (and I quote) "Ummm..I dont exactly remember our deal?!" LOL!! I said ohh i'm sure you will be reminded when she comes in May :) I LOVE LOVE LOVE that we are doing the half AND full together! SO EXCITING!!!! And, I KNOW you can do it.

WOO HOOOO on eating well today!!! I love the PB bar OMG.
