I didn't do my weekly update this last weekend. I didn't want to think about the week, I wanted to think about the big picture. I wanted to reflect about last year, and look ahead to this coming year. Then time got away from me because I was having too much fun and here it is Tuesday, the Third day of the year and I'm finally getting around to writing something.
So 2011 was pretty great all around. Some Cheers for 2011:
I learned I can stand up all day at work, and LOVE it.
Family dance party can happen most days, it just takes some commitment to having fun!
Adding fruits and veggies to my diet was as easy as making sure I was eating the same as I was feeding my little one, I want only the best for him, so why would I not do the same for myself?! I did, and even my hubby has gotten on board so that LO doesn't see daddy not eating his veggies.
I learned that I CAN walk a 5k with my son in a stroller, it's a challenge, and it doesn't result in a good "race" time, but it DOES result in a fun time. I walk/ran a 5k for my birthday, and while I had a slightly better "race" time, it wasn't as much fun. :)
I went on vacation and didn't go overboard! haha! I'm full of punnery!
I learned how to quilt! This ties into my healthy living goals by keeping up with hobbies to keep my brain and body happy so I'm not obsessing about my weight or eating. I am more than my dress size!
I love this site, it keeps me in check, and even when I don't check in every day I'm always thinking about my teams and staying accountable. 2011 was the year that I was really able to fully leverage every tool that is here, and I opened myself up to the possibility that I needed to be an active part of the online community here. It has been a blessing, as have all the friends I've made here.
I can wake up a little bit earlier to stretch and exercise every day. I CAN do it. 2011 was the year that I changed how I viewed exercise and its place in my life.
And now on to 2012. What can I scheme to do in 2012 that is achievable and will further my goals to live a healthy lifestyle?
Continue to incorporate fruits and veggies into my diet (it's what I eat, not a frame of mind, I promise!) EVERY DAY
Meatless Mondays! I've started trying out 'Food on the Table' (app to plan meals and grocery list based on weekly sales at the store I shop at) and I will pick out one meatless meal a week to have on Mondays. If 'Food on the Table' doesn't work out, than whatever planning/grocery list program I use I'll just make sure to incorporate at least one meatless dinner a week. Breakfast and lunch for me are usually meat-free so I'm well on my way to having my own version of a balanced diet. I have a long way to go, but I like the journey so that is GOOD!
Need to get new walking/running shoes!
Incorporate a mini stepper for at my desk at work.
Run in the W2T 5k (a charity run that I volunteered at last year, this year I want to run it!). It looks like it might be in August this year.
Train for that run. FOR REAL.
Do a couple of crochet projects, like some amigurumi animals! I did some wash cloths in 2011, but nothing cute and fun.
Keep doing WMS! I love the instant gratification and motivation it provides when the scale doesn't!
Keep at the elliptical and Wii. They're fun to do and keep me feeling positive.
Get more items into my 'Fit' pinterest board! I'm using it as a visual collage for everything else, so I need to SHOW (myself!) how big of a priority healthy living is to me by finding more FIT inspiration.
