Today was my first day back to healthy/natural eating, and my first day back to the gym in a very long time. I'm reading the book "Eat to Live" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, and it is very good. It's full of good scientific and nutritional info and is inspiring and motivating. I recommend it. I ate wonderful tastely fruits and veggies all day, and felt great. I was really expecting for it to be harder. I'd been praying for God to help take away my cravings for sugar and junk food and help me to be a healtier example for my children. I know that it is only because of Him that I was able to get through today so easily. No headache, no crankiness, no cravings...just healthy eating and exercise. It was a very good day. I thank God for today
The treadmill was not as easy as the eating today, which is a bit of a switch for me. Typically, I love my workouts and work like a horse, but struggle with eating. ( I love food...obviously) My instinct when I get on the treadmill is to crank up the speed and go, but my body had other ideas. I alternated some jogging and walking intervals and had a good stretch. It felt great. I also got an uninturrupted hot shower and shaved my legs while the babies were in the gym child care. It was heavenly. This taking care of myself business is pretty great. I've missed it. Tomorrow I'm using the steam room after my workout. I am soooo looking forward to that!
In other areas of balancing home and family, we have begun sleep training Matteo. It's heart breaking to hear him cry, but he's doing well and I know it will be worth it when we are all sleeping better through the night.
