New Year With Lots of Challenges & Opportunities Ahead

WOW, it's been a year since I last posted a blog. I've visited and left messages here and there on other Sparksters' pages, but no blogs. Well, I know from experience, blogging does help me stay not only accountable but also sane at times.

This year is the year I will reinforce my lifestyle changes into permanent changes. This translates into not letting life give me an excuse to go to food for comfort and chucking exercise.

This year my husband and I will be dealing with a health issue (the big C) from the get-go. He has his biopsy this coming week with surgery scheduled later in the month. We know whatever the outcome of this, God is in control and will take care of us.

Also, my mom is having health issues that are still stumping the doctors. Needless to say keeping myself healthy and sane is a must.

So challenges/opportunities for 2012

1- Keep myself and family healthy
2- Provide ample me time
3- Spend time on what's important - prayer, family, friends
4- Say no (politely) to extra responsibility when it will add more stress rather than happiness
5- Stay positive and keep positive people in my circle

OK that's my start for this year. emoticon

    So sorry to read about your husband and mom. Sent up a prayer for peace in all things :0) thing I did last spring when my hubby was in the hospital (13 days and then 2 weeks home--he has a chronic illness) was that even small things can help big time. I was actually able to go to the gym while he was there---long story, but it was the first time i did not gain weight during a very stressful time! Also I MADE myself eat fruits and veggies even if I was eating cruddy hospital fast food choices. Usually i gain 5 pounds but not this is so hard to think of ourselves when those we love are suffering :0(...but truly it is not selfish so hang in there!

    You and your family have a lot on your plate. Your goals for this time are very good. Remember to take care of yourself so you can care for your DH and mom. I will say prayers for you all.
