In the middle of August on our vacation, where I was taking a break from Spark People for a few weeks, I had the worst RA flare of my life. I subsequently had to increase my prednisone intake dramatically. This changed everything.
At first I held my weight gain at bay and I was happy for that. Then the longer I was on it the weight gain started slowly. The medication that they introduced to replace the prednisone was a slow reaction drug, taking a long time to get into my system. This prolonged my time on this high does of prednisone, and also discouraged me.
Now it is 5 months later and I am still on 10 mg! Not good. But I will try to start the spark people program and give it what I can logging in to count my calories and keep myself in check. Hopefully in a few weeks, I can start to come down off the 10 mg and that will help things as well.
I need to do this for me. I need to tackle my weight and get myself ahead of the game. I once thought this program will get me to my goal, and I need to build up that hope again and march on. Here's to a new start!
