Yes, I've been absent for a long while....
It's been a rough year, mostly because I've been sick alot from the latex allergy... seems everytime I turn around I get hit again, then I'm down for the count for a couple days. I just get back up and it hits again.

So on top of the Neurontin and the Singulair, which both have weight gain as a possible side effect, a whole conglomerate of other allergy medicines were added, notably Xolair injections. Since the injections started 2 months ago, I've gained about 13 pounds. Granted the holiday season fits in that equation somewhere, though I mostly avoided baking naughty things.

The constant damage to my lungs from anaphylaxis means that exercise is almost intolerable anymore. I had some mild exercise anaphylaxis issues before, but now they land me in the ER. So I'm avoiding anything strenous these days... even raking leaves, etc, is bad.

So it just sort of seemed pointless to log in here and say cheerfully, "Hello SparkPeople. I'm getting fatter every day and not doing a damn thing about it! How are you?"

But now my blood sugar is up alarmingly. fasting this morning was 192! the highest it's been before this was 145 I think.

So I know I can't let this go on, but I don't have alot of good solutions either. I'll talk to the allergist, but you know how that goes... "Yes you do need to lose weight. Go on a diet and get some exercise." Sigh.

    GRANNYNIGHTHAWK, we can not let you give up. Please seek help from the nutritionist on this site. There must be ways to fight back from all the medications and there is always some physical exercises to help the joints and muscles that don't require more exertion than you can handle until you are back from the allergy complications. emoticon emoticon

    Praying for you that your allergist can help you. Be sure to drink your water and watch your portion sizes. Eat mini meals instead of 3 large meals a day. Make your carbohydrates complex carbs. That should help with being fuller long and getting the blood sugars lower.
