I'm excited about continuing a healthy lifestyle in 2012. I am focusing on what I WILL do this year, and I WILL do it with CONSISTENCY.
So my goals for this year are...
I WILL Eating Balanced Meals and Snacks, and I will record what I eat on my Android Sparkpeople app. My daily menu will consist of:
Breakfast: 1 Protein, 2 Grain, 1 Fruit
Snack: 1 Milk
Lunch: 1 Protein, 2 Grain, 2 Vegetables
Snack: 1 Fruit
Dinner: 1 Protein, 2 Grain, 2 Vegetables
Snack: 1 Milk, 1 Protein, 1 Fruit
Extras: 2-3 Tbsp healthy oils, 8+ glasses water, increasing herbal teas, decreasing coffee
Of course nothing is written in stone, so I may switch meals but basically that's the plan. My favourite evening snack are one handful of nuts, my hand equals one serving, or 24 almonds.
I also will use my food scale when in question, so that my serving sizes do not deceive me.
I WILLweigh myself every Sunday, and measure the 1st of every month. (I find weighing myself everday way too discouraging, since my water weight fluctuates a lot, usually dependent on how well I sleep)
I WILL walk a minimum of 30minutes everyday, and go to the gym or an alternative fitness workout at least 3x a week. I may even buy a bicycle this year, that would be fun.
I WILL take at least one course this year, probably the next level of sign language, and I'll look for something else to take just for fun, I'd like to take a dance class, if I can find one that I like, that's free. I do go to Zumba once a week now, and I love it, but a change is good.
I WILL save as much money as possible by preparing more foods from scratch, rather than purchasing "diet" food. We have a camping trailer, not a house, so I want to save all that I can and hopefully get a well, septic tank and hydro this year so that we don't have to have water brought in, trailer holding tank pumped out and run a generator. My long term goal is to be living in a house within the next 2 years, just a small home, as I want to return to Africa on missions. My long term goal that I don't know how it could happen is to live 6 months here in Canada and 6 months in Africa. Africa will not cost us any money to live there, as we volunteer there in exchange for our keep, but we need an income for 6 months here to sustain us here and the tickets to travel back and forth . We live in Northern Ontario, so I definitely want the 6 months in Canada to be in the summer and the 6 months in Africa to be in our winter.
I WILL spend time with the people I love, and there are many of them. My Lord, my husband, my sons and daughters, grandkids, and friends, preferably in person but when that's not possible, then via electronic communication like I'm doing right here, right now.
"Hi all you SparkFriends, what are your goals for this upcoming year?"
