Seven and a half months ago I found Sparkpeople. I had no idea what I was joining. What an education!! I discovered that tracking what I eat is VERY important. I love the fact that I do not have to research the calorie content of each food. Sparks makes this so easy,
I started to exercise. Exercise was always a bad word to me. Something to avoid at all costs. And yes there are costs that I paid, Overweight, high blood pressure and cholesterol. I love to swim or should I say soak in our outdoor pool. I started to tread water. Hum, exercise. It felt good. The time increased as I build stamina. I started to walk in the neighborhood. My weight started to go down.
I even held my own on vacation. Ten days away eating out each day. I did find computer connections so I could track my food and exercise. I found that if I was careful, I could stay close to my calorie goals each day. We did a lot of walking at theme parks and attractions. Swimming with grandchildren. Oh, almost important, I FIT into the seat in the airplane!!! Oh how good that felt!
Fall arrived and I was forced to find others means of exercising because the pool closed. I have struggled with walking outside, due to change in weather and it is dark when I get out of work. I have used some videos.
I joined the end of year biggest loser challenge. It has been great. I have learned to blog, met great SP on my team, found wonderful encouragement, and I was pushed to move off the plateau I found myself on.
This week we got a stationary bike. I have worked up to 30 minutes a session. It is a push and I am exhausted when I finish. After a short rest, I start to feel great.
As I am writing this blog I am aware of how great I feel!! I am in a great of mind, well rested, and looking forward to the New Year. I looking forward to what 2012 hold for me. I am actually thinking of making a couple of resolutions and putting them in writing.
