Total Left Knee Replacement

Thursday, December 29, 2011

Well I finally went beyond the VA to get my knee fixed. After being told by the VA for 6 years, you need a replacement but you are overweight so we cannot do it, I finally went to my local doctor and told her what was going on. She suggested a local surgeon to see and within 2 weeks I am scheduled to have A total left knee replacement on Jan 11, 2012. I am very excited and scared about having this surgery but I know it will be for the best in the long run. My 4 grandchildren mean the world to me and I want to enjoy their growing up years. I want to be able to play with them and to go to zoos' with them and not have to sit down every 10 feet.

Life is finally looking better and I will be able to lose weight once I can actually move around again.

Oh this is going to make such a difference to your health! I had a knee replaced two years ago. It was not bad at all....the only painful part was the PT afterwards. Your knee will be swollen and they bend bend bend on it. But stick with your exercises and you will be raring to go in no time! Two months after surgery we went on vacation and I went hiking! Yes, my fat lazy bu..tt went hiking! I was overweight too when I had surgery but it went fine. Best of luck to you! (and now I really enjoy walking and exercising...what a difference when your knee doesn't hurt). emoticon

emoticon I just had a total knee replacement in October and was scared. But it wasn't as bad as I thought. My knee is doing so good I am already making plans to have the other knee done. Keep us updated on your progress emoticon

Good for you for seeking the help you needed. You will feel better after and as you say you will be able to lose weight once you can move around again.

I had a total hip replacement in August and am back to exercising 6 days a week. The difference has been amazing and I know you will feel the same once you recover from your surgery.

Good luck and happy healing. emoticon
