Where Do I Begin.......

Thursday, December 29, 2011

It has been a long time since I blogged here at SP. I ducked out back in April because I just couldn't keep up with everything on the site. I was halfway through my weight loss goal at the time. I went on to lose a total of 16 pounds by July. I was pleased with my progress, but there it ended. Once again life got in the way and my schedule got all changed around and I started skipping the gym. I was also training for a half marathon at the time (not my first) but I had to defer the race because I wasn't ready.

So, first came the weight gain - all that I lost plus some. Then came the general feeling of being unhealthy. Then came the negative body image. At last the depression and feeling of failure. So what's a girl to do? Try WW again? Beat myself up everyday for being weak-willed? How could I get myself back on track with eating right, working out, and feeling good about myself? SPARK!! of course......

So here I am. But it is going to be different this time. Last time I was distracted with points and being top of the class. I got overwhelmed being a team leader. I liked the daily attention from my team, but it was probably more about me than them. That is not the way to do it. I made good friends here, I hope to reconnect with them in a more positive way this time around. I want to give as much as I get.

So here it goes, wish me luck.....

Welcome back Carolyn. I'm glad you returned. I'll have to keep an eye out for your witty observations. Look forward to reading about your future progresses. I've got about 10 pounds of pure holiday weight to shed myself. hehe Darn those cookies, the fudge, the chips and dip!!!!!!!

What worked for me more than anything else is to promise to do "just 10 minutes" of exercise every single day. Anyone---even I---can do "just 10 minutes," and usually once I'd done that, I'd do more too. In any case, a new year brings a new start.

Ok Girlfriend.....Welcome back! You and I are in the same boat. I drifted away in March, held steady for a while, then started bagging the gym and began to pay the price...made a few feeble attempts at getting back on track...NG! Even with my new Grandson, motivation and excuses abound....Now is the time to get back in gear. We know how to do this, and be successful..We can do this! emoticon

Good for you Carolyn, welcome back! I too am struggling of late. Had to give up my gym membership as I couldn't justify the expense for one or two visits a week. Hoping to start the New Year with renewed vigour and a positive attitude.
