Never, EVER Weigh Yourself The Day After Christmas.....EVER!

Happy Holidays, everyone! Hope everyone enjoyed their time with friends and family, I know I did!

The best Christmas present I got was my boss giving me two extra days off for Christmas! It was fantastic. My parents drove in from NH and I got to spend even more time with them.

We did some shopping, went out to eat, and just lounged around. We have a nice Christmas Eve party at our house with my parents and friends. We always have an Irish Christmas (corned beef, cabbage etc) and go on a hayride to see the lights. It was such a fun night!

Christmas Day was movies, snacking, playing with gifts and skypeing with my brother who was in NY with his girlfriend for the holidays.

The day after Christmas, my parents and I got up crazy early (545am) and headed to the mall. I got 4 sweaters, 4 pairs of earrings, a bunch of calendars and a game.

I also got on the scale to see the damage....yikes! SIX LB GAIN!!!!! emoticon I'm going to weigh in officially again on New Years Eve. I'm watching myself carefully this week!

I may not have eaten fantastically or even mindfully most of my vacation days, but I always got in a daily 20 min walk with the dogs and my husband.

I'm still working on my 2012 goals, but I found my blog from Jan 1st 2011 and here it is:

Interesting. I forgot that I posted a picture and I think on Jan 1st I will post another picture. I used some of those tools in the picture, but I think what was most beneficial was going to therapy and dealing with my weight issues. Thanks to therapy, I enjoyed 2011 a lot more than I thought I would. It was a fun year.

I didn't follow nutritionist advice or do one new thing monthly (maybe I did, but I didn't keep track-haha), but I did the water and I took one day at a time.

    I always weigh myself before 12/24 and after 12/25. I like to see if I did as much "damage" as I thought.

I also know that that weight is not real. If I know I need to drop off that "holiday six" I am more motivated to keep my hand out of the cookie jars and reach for water and apples.

And I will not skip my WI on Saturday. If I have done any semi-permanent damage, that is to say some has stuck around for the whole week, then ignoring it doesn't make it go away. The scale is a meter, a tool. I cannot judge me. It tells me the absolute truth, good or bad.

    Too bad I didn't follow your advice! I, too was up 6 pounds yesterday morning. I lost .5 this morning, despite having friends over for a "boxing day" dinner and cards. We kind of cleaned up all the leftovers and I sent home food with the guests. I bravely threw away all the leftover Christmas treats and Brie. So unless I sink to a new low of dumpster diving, they are removed from temptation! I know I can get back to goal weight shortly, but it will take focus. Good luck to us both!

    Yeah, my scales have been doing that crazy roller-coaster routine w/me too... Try not to stress about it too much! (just put the scales away for the next 2 wks)

    I will bet you that at least 3 lbs. of the gain is water retention from SODIUM. You WILL get the weight off because ! know you!
