Hi spark buddies! I hope you all had a very happy Hanukkah, merry Christmas, great Kwanzaa, are gearing up for a great New Year, and enjoying anything else you might be celebrating right now!
I've been lurking in the shadows but still checking in, though admittedly I'm not back in the full swing of things. Right now I have a good dose of motivation due to the over indulging of Christmas, but that same over indulging has robbed me of any motivation today!
I put the 100 pushups/250 squats, etc etc on hold to participate in Philadelphia's 2nd annual urban pickle assault, a 4+ mile run that doesn't way too heavily who finishes first. My friends asked me to join them only 2 or 3 weeks before the run, and 2 weeks into my body weight exercise program. I knew I wasn't in good enough shape to keep it up while pulling some last minute training. Even though I had lost a good deal of endurance, I had a great time on the run! Over the 4 mile course, there were several places we had to stop and take pictures with out pickle. Plus, we were running with traffic, tourists, office workers. Between the check ins and red lights, there were plenty of opportunities to stop for a breather. As a result, I got to run faster and harder than I would during a 5K since I didn't have the pressure of trying to beat a time or not take breaks. Even though we were the second to last team to finish, we won! The picture of our pickle with a random perverted sea captain we found in a train station was deemed best picture. It was such a good time and a great workout, exactly what I needed to keep the holiday blues at bay.
Speaking of Holiday blues, yes, this has been a particularly challenging week. In general since the break up I've been feeling pretty good abut being single again, the only major exception being Christmas parties. Those have just been bumming me out. But they're almost done!
