Goals for 2012

Monday, December 26, 2011

Wow, ya'll. It's been almost a year since I've written a blog post. I woke up this morning and felt the

"Something's gotta change"

feeling, so I've decided to reinvest energy in my Sparkpage. And Sparkpeople in general. Tracking calories works for me. I haven't tracked fitness in a long time, but I think that will work for me too. It's just a matter of investing some time into this website, which is something I have fought myself on in the last half of 2011.

I am a part-time student and part-time employee. I teach yoga twice a week (hopefully one x week starting in 2012) and I have a boyfriend and lots of friends, both new and old. As well, I'm starting to plan for internships and grad school.

Needless to say, life is very full. However, there are little things that I can do to cut down on these responsibilities so that I can maintain my responsibility to my body.

For 2012, I would like to:

1. Teach less and practice more...try to practice 3 x week as soon as my wrists are better

2. Keep a log of how much I am exercising on Sparkpeople

3. Cook more, eat out less! Each Sunday, I'd like to shop for groceries and cook something for the coming week.

Those are my three manageable "To Do's" for the New Year. As far as weight/body fat is concerned, I am going to reach for the goal I wrote a long time ago:

Body Fat at 20% by May 2012

I haven't had my body fat measured since this time last year, when it was %28. I know I have gained muscle mass since then, so another goal is to:

have Body Fat % measured in January

So these are my five goals:

1. Teach less and practice more...try to practice 3 x week as soon as my wrists are better

2. Keep a log of how much I am exercising on Sparkpeople

3. Cook more, eat out less! Each Sunday, I'd like to shop for groceries and cook something for the coming week.

4. Body fat at 20% by May 2012

5. Have body fat % measured in January

Thanks for listening! Here's a pic I'm proud of to welcome in the new year:

Great goals! Good luck. It reminds me that I should actually get my BF% professionally measured.

Great goals! I find tracking exercise here on SparkPeople very motivating and bet you will, too. Less eating out is definitely something that will help your health and your pocketbook. 20% body fat doesn't seem like much at all. If you can do it, great. Worth a try, but don't kick yourself if that one isn't achievable. (I don't think it is for me, but then I'm a lot, lot older than you.) Have a great 2012. You are off to a great start setting well-defined significant goals. -Marsha
