Today is a milestone for me.

Saturday, December 24, 2011

Today I am officially full grown! I am feeling my oats; I am 66 years young. I swear I don't feel any different than I did at 22 years old. Earlier I thought I was slowing down, but keeping up with the challenges here on SP has given me so much energy that I'm no longer tired at the end of a day of chasing around after my 2 and 4 year-old grand kids. It's phenomenal. Please don't take that comment about the grand kids to mean that I'm retired. I'm just on Christmas break: I'm still teaching full time, and can't really see any good reason to retire soon--I'm looking for one :)

If you're trying to lose weight without exercising, please give it a try ASAP. Just strap on some tennis shoes and start walking. My weight will not stay down without it; my blood pressure will not stay down without it, and my cholesterol will not stay down without it. My good cholesterol is a whopping 79 (we are encouraged to keep it above 40), and my overall is only 130. (We're encouraged to keep that no. below 200.)

Now it's true that I am usually just a happy person, but I have to tell you, I just feel GOOD! Help me toast to 66 more good years!

Cheers! íSalud! A ta santÚ! Salute!

You are gorgeous and a great encouragement. My grandmother, who just turned 75 years young is a major influence and encouragement to me as well. She just completed her first half marathon earlier this year, is still working full time, and in addition has her own bookkeping/tax service. So, you see, there is no reason for us to think we can't do it too.

Keep going soror because you are testament to what God and a little healthy living on our part can do.

You can't believe what a big smile that blog brought me. :-D

I'm so proud of you and happy for you, and appreciative of the friendship you've shown me over these months. You've shown a lot of confidence in me, and as many know, confidence breeds confidence. Your confidence in me helps me to maintain it myself, and I can only hope that my confidence in you has done the same. (Somehow I think it has!)

This blog is the first time I've known your age, and from your pictures I'd have surely guessed 20+ years younger. I still owe an "after" picture so I can get the same treatment. LOL

I'm with you. I don't think or feel any differently than I did in my 20s ... I'm just a LOT wiser now than I was then ... at least in some ways. I can tell you that with 45 fewer pounds than I carried this time last year, I'm back to running around the backyard with the puppies, and when I couldn't do that well I WAS feeling older!

Yes, I'm up pretty late tonight ... slowly sipping some Scotch while I'm kicking back listening to an Oscar Peterson Christmas jazz album. That guy is a mixed blessing. On the one hand, I love his piano. On the other, he makes me despair about why I bother to practice piano, as I'll never get to that place playing it. LOL

Merry Christmas, Jazze! Please pass along Betty's and my warmest greetings to your family. While we don't know them, I feel I know you somewhat, and if they benefit from your influence they are surely some fine people.

Here's to you...Happy 66th! The older I get, the more I realize it's how you feel not your current number that determines how "young" you really are. Yes, you are so right about exercise. It's the magic pill to good health. Thanks for the inspiration. emoticon emoticon
