Overall:
2011: 1350 miles (28 mpw) 2 marathons; 6 ultras (Compared to 2010: 1951 miles (42 mpw) 3 marathons; 6 ultras)

Injuries:
JAN--- recovering from 24 hour event at New Years 2010/11 (distance PR of 78 M); out with flu for a week; metatarsal flare up into FEB.
PERKED UP and ran well in MARCH!
APRIL-elbow strain; time off week Desmond was born; abcessed tooth (non running related but did effect my training)
Late APRIL-MAY-into JUNE out/recovering from major ANKLE SPRAIN
JULY-AUGUST-SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER-
NOVEMBER GOOD (40+mpw averages)
mid NOVEMBER-DECEMBER. hip issues

so.. for about half the year, I've been dealing with one glitch or another, and the ankle sprain basically kept me off my feet for 6-8 weeks solid. Too much time off; not enough long runs in training; and subpar weekly mileage.

And I suppose I should add weight gain under injuries as well. :( At the moment, I'm definitely a "clydesdale filly" and need to lose 30 pounds, which has crept on (with disgustingly relentless back-sliding progress) in the 18 months post menopause.

I had some good races in 2011, but not many PRs, and a couple OMG bad/slow/painful events; the previous year felt sooooo much better! How to capture some of that "rush" again in the coming year? How to best train and reach my goals?
