What's in your honey ?

Thursday, December 22, 2011

After joining SP, I grew wary of sugar. But I do have a sweet tooth, and quite often I crave for desserts. I glanced thru many sweet recipes in SP, and found that many of them substitute honey for sugar. So I started stacking my shelf with honey. It is also supposed to be very good for numerous health problems. However this article has opened my eyes. Natural honey is very hard to come across, and just see what all they add to it to enhance the taste, to increase the shelf-life and what-not. www.foodsafetynews.com/2

Also this write-up is a medical analysis of the stuff that the manufacturers put in our good old honey.

I would know immediately if there was corn syrup in my honey as I am allergic to it. I wonder if they have thought about the possibility of someone having an allergic reaction to it because an ingredient wasn't disclosed on the label!

I get my honey locally from someone who has hives, and nothing is added. I won't buy it at a store any more.

It's things like that that make menot feel so bad about not being able to have honey! Have you ever tried Agave? It is a natural sweetener that doesn't raise your blood sugar so it is good for diabetics.
