Rude awakening!

Rude awakening #1: my scale and the doctors are a full 8 pounds off. I was so shook up this morning after my doctor's visit that I wished I could have come home and gone to bed. But I had a day charged with meetings and appointments. I got through appointment with my financial advisor, went to lunch with a friend-was pretty good "soup and two small cornbread muffins". After that I went for my hearing test, to be told I have to go back to the doctor's to get the wax removed before they can do a hearing test-rude awakening #2. I left called the doctor's office and must wait a week for an appointment. Went to my hair dresser's and took a nap.
Rude awakening #3 I failed already on my new goal for Sparkpeople!
Which reminds me my new goals are:
1 log in each morning and spend at15- 20 minutes a day recording foods and exercise. I hope to do a few minutes in the morning and than several more after supper.
2. Use the new pedometer and set my goal for 10,000 steps... I'm going to have to work hard on this one-especially on vacation.
3. For every set back, I'm going to get back on the wagon. I MUST lose another 15 pounds and I'd like to do it before my 6 months check-up with the doctor. So track, track and track.

    I remove my own ear wax with Debrox. I have a recurring problem with it. You can also use peroxide.

    It all starts with awareness. Sometimes we need to be shaken up in order to do something about it. I know you can do it. Just keep moving on one day at a time.

    What is it about those doctor scales? They got a new one at my Curves now and that too weighs about 5 lbs. more than home. They used to have one that weighed a couple of pounds less than home. I loved that scale.

    Hate it when the awakenings are so rude but looking at it another way, awakening to these things is the first step toward conquering them. My Dr's scale is always different than mine too but the thing to focus on is change....when you lose those 15 pounds, it's not the final number on any scale that matters but the 15 pound change matters...so continue to use your scale as the tool to measure your progress between dr visits and you know the more your track the more you will move toward that goal....Now, as far a failing on your new goal...we only fail when we quit...you have NOT failed in any way...just took a little detour.

    Dr scales are usually about 5 lbs more than at home - it's later in the day so usually you've eaten, and rarely do we get weighed at the dr's stark naked, the way most of us weigh ourselves at home. So, between clothing and food, I figure a good 5 lbs.

    I'm sure you will do fine. Those rude awakenings have a way of slipping up on us when we least need them. I had one today when I came home from having lunch out and looked at the nutrition facts on the Cajun Chicken pasta I had at O'Charley's. Worst mess up I've made since joining Spark People. Ugh! emoticon
