South Beach Diet Phase 1, Day 10

I'm retaining water today evidenced by the fact that the scale was up 3 lbs and I've been to the bathroom nonstop today, lol. Otherwise phase 1 is going great. Tomorrow, however, is our annual "Cookie Fest". My sister and I get together every year and bake tons of cookies and other goodies for our coworkers. The list this year is gigantic - vanilla sugar cookies, gingerbread cookies, cake pops, white chocolate cranberry oatmeal cookies, monster cookies, coconut macaroons, chocolate fudge, peanut butter fudge, peppermint bark, key lime bark and then....just to help keep me away from all of that while still having a treat for myself I'm going to make Paleo Banana bread and Paleo Pumpkin bread. Sounds like a diabetic's nightmare right? I'll keep reminding myself of this while I'm baking. I'm not diabetic but it does run in my family.

I don't know that I'll have any energy to eat any of it by the time we are done and that's probably a good thing but I have planned a cheat day for this. It's straight back to Phase 1 after tomorrow for me. I'll be on Phase 1 for at least a month due to the amount of weight I need to lose but even after that, I've done SBD before and I know that my body will only tolerate a slight increase in foods....mostly berries, sweet potatoes, small amounts of brown rice, small amounts of oatmeal, SF jello pudding, etc. So the majority of my days, I think, will remain phase 1.

A few weeks ago, I was diagnosed with asthma by my allergy and immunology dr....along with many allergies. Mostly the asthma doesn't bother me except when I get sick. I've had a cough since the last time I was sick and the inhaler that was prescribed to me has all but gotten rid of it. I'm hoping that I'll be able to add in exercise soon. I'm also supposed to start allergy shots here shortly. Hopefully that will be VERY soon. I'm ready to not have so many sinus infections.

All in all, I feel much healthier on the South Beach Diet then when I am not on it. I hope I remember this exact statement when I hit a plateau!

    Your treats sound wonderful and it's nice you can make them with your sister.

South Beach is great - a really healthy diet.

    Ha ha! Yes, broken cookies do have calories! Good thing most of the cookies I can't eat because they have wheat in them. :)

    Be careful tomorrow, just keep saying: gifts for coworkers, gifts for coworkers, etc.

Oh yeah - and broken cookies do too have calories - no matter what my grandmother said!
