I'm pregnant!

Yep, had my first ultrasound this morning. There's an adorable little blob with a nice strong heartbeat ticking away inside of me. I'm just over 7 weeks and halfway through the first trimester.

Actually, within a couple of days of my last blog, I learned I was pregnant, but sadly miscarried less than a week later. Got pregnant again right away and this one seems like it wants to stick around a while!

Food and exercise habits have basically been whatever I can manage. I've been to the gym a couple of times, but not since the morning sickness set in last week. My insomnia is out of control. Food is not appetizing, but I feel like I'm constantly muching on something to keep the morning sickness at bay. Obviously roller derby is out of the question in my current condition though I plan to stay involved in a non-skating capacity. But it's all good because I'm growing a human!

We're not going to wait out the whole trimester to tell everyone like some people do. Now that we've seen a heartbeat, the risk of miscarriage is lower and if I do miscarry, I'll need the support of everyone around me. Tonight we're telling my step-daughters (ages 8 and 9). This weekend, the in-laws. Next week, we are going on a road trip to Washington where we will tell my family. So excited!

I too had to graze nearly constantly to keep the sickness at bay. Nuts, peanut butter, and anything high in protein helped. Avocados were amazing ( still are).

THe nice thing about the good fats in nuts and avocado is they help baby's brain develop! :) Praying for you!

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned by someone else, no time to read ALL the comments... Remember how good for you that nuts are. Protein, GOOD fat and plenty of calories. Can you tolerate eggs? That's another way to add protein without meat. Don't forget whey protein, quinoa (toast it before cooking it regularly for an extra flavor kick) and fish.

And remember, too, that you can still exercise...just maybe not what you were doing before!

Congrats Sweetie!!!! My best recommendation for a preggers tummy causing issues is ginger tea! Yummy! I know that I found it in Barnes and Noble when I needed it (8 years ago......) It helped lots! Enjoy!

Eeeeek, congratulations, Simone! So happy for you. Please keep us as updates as possible. And try some fresh ginger (you can steep it and make tea out of it) for that morning sickness. There also are ginger chews, like Chimes brand, out there, if you're not too worried about the sugar and therefore a few extra calories.
