'Tis the season to be jolly! (I'm working on it!)

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

--Well, I have been off again for a while...I love the Christmas season but I am never, EVER, quite ready for it. I haven't even mailed cards, yet....and I have two sets to do. One for mine and hubbie's and one for my dad. Bah, humbug! :)
--I am sort of in a whiny mood this morning as last night my online Mandarin Chinese class started. Oooh, the other two people in it speak so well! --not I. :( I am thinking about dropping it and maybe trying to get into another at a lower level. I can understand 90-95% of what they're saying but when I try to speak all that comes out is " ".
My hubbie dearest says that I should stick with it so I will give it another try tonight. What the heck, right?
--'Got all my Salvation Army Angel presents turned in - Yea! I found out though, that a book I got for my brother-in-law is not even going to ship until 12/28. I guess I missed the out-of-stock indicator. So....I will find him something small to open on Christmas. Also, I asked my sister to get the sizes for my 2 great-neices and 1 great-nephew and she hasn't gotten back to me yet. Hopefully, I will get that information soon! Other than that, just a few gift cards for my older great neices, neices & nephews and something for the in-laws. Oh, and I have a couple of small things for hubbie but need to get him something nice. Wow, it seems like a lot to do yet, doesn't it? It is!
--I still haven't decided what to make for Christmas dinner. At this point, I'm thinking peanut butter and jelly sandwiches sounds nice ---- with LOTS of eggnog! What are you having for Christmas dinner?
--I hope you all are having a great time out there in Sparkland! :)
++++++++++++++++++ Happy Holidays! +++++++++++++++++++

    Being behind seems to be about "par" for a lot of people this year! We took our senior needy gifts to the center last night and saw that the tree still has lots of names left - so we got eight more! That will keep us busy this weekend!! emoticon

    I am way behind too. Still have shopping to do. Still need to get a tree. Hubby and I wanted a fake pre-lit tree this year but the kids, two live with us, wanted a real tree. Hubby is out of the country on business until Monday so no helo from him. My manager is out on sick leave so I have her work as well as my own. So extra busy this year. So hopefully will be able to get alot done this weekend. Keeping fingers crossed!! emoticon emoticon

    Busy, busy busy! You and me both. It seems, as the years go by (me getting older) that Xmas comes quicker & quicker. I swear as I sleep, some one comes along and steals a few hours here and there. I never seem to get everything gone in time. And this year I have Mom's shopping to do, as well. HELP!!

As for dinner this year, I'm thinking easy. I always do the cooking, over at Mom & Dad's, cause the whole family spends the day there. This year I'm doing the turkey the day before. We'll have cold turkey, a small ham, potato casserole, veggies etc. My sister said she'll bring the dessert. By doing the bird the day before, it frees up the oven. I'll make the casserole the night before. Then it's just pop stuff in the oven and a whole lot less pressure for me. Sounds like a plan.

Only a few more gifts to get, but they are always the ones that get put off til last. No ideas, just yet. I'll just schlep around the mall til some great revolation hits me. :0)

Hope you are having a fun season. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
