What a difference a job makes!

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

If you were to believe my DDs Facebook page, she was distraught to be rejoining the workaday world. That was just posturing!

She graduated from Vet Tech school last October, and hasnt been able to land the job she wanted. Shes studying for the certification exam this Thursday, and has been as irascible as a bear. Ive also had to talk her down off the ledge a few times when it seemed she was going to self-destruct.

After a couple of out of town interviews that didnt yield jobs, I started sending her listings for every vet tech position open on craigslist. I was told that they all required experience, or that the job was below her capabilities. Still I pushed. And she went on interviews, all the while telling me why these werent the jobs she wanted.

She came home late last night from her first day on the job. One of those jobs she wasnt going to get. One of those jobs that didnt pay enough. And she was flying high! Suddenly this was the best clinic in town, though pricey. So Id be forgiven if I didnt switch back to using them again (they had been my clinic of choice for many years.) Shes taking Olive the rat in today to be treated for the sniffles; I hope she gets a discount!

Heres hoping the cheerful mood continues; heres hoping that Thursdays exam is successful. I could use a little less stress in my life, and so could she.

Update: exam was passed!!!!

That's awesome how you've helped her. HEheee. Reading everything, I thought, "Awww... she's so young." I think she'll grow out of all of that, but especially because of your help.

Mommyhood is so important!

I'm still looking for a job after being laid off a few years ago. I'm trying to psyche myself up and post for those jobs that I talk myself out of. Here's some proof positive that it may actually work! ;D So thanks.

Yay daughter! Yeah, I'm having insane difficulties finding work - as a newbie teacher... oy. It's just a terrible time to be hiring in general, much less now. Here's to hoping I get some of her good luck!
