Diet Relapse!

Monday, December 12, 2011

Just touching base since it has been almost 3 months since my last Blog. I have had a food and fitness relapse starting last May. I went on a motorcycle road trip from Portland OR to Los Angeles to Washington DC....and back of course. I gained some bad habits along the way.
I discovered food that I had taken off my list, then reintroduced and have gone overboard. I have gone from 216 lbs in May back up to 238 lbs. Still well below my original starting weight of 279 lbs but the weight is heading in the wrong direction.
I need to get back in control and track with my food along with my workout routines. I am trying to get back into running, after a long layoff due to a knee injury. In Sept. I did the Warrior-Dash that just about killed me. I ran a 5K on Thanksgiving day, Turkeython, and came in a pathetic 45 minutes. I am so out of shape!
It is so easy to stray down the wrong path and so hard to find my way back. I need to rekindle my motivation.

Sounds like quite a trip - am sure you saw some beautiful country along the way. I am finally getting serious about my weight loss - have just been playing around. Have joined the 24 Hour Fitness Club and am really enjoying it - so convenient and close to where I do all my shopping - of course - here in Pendleton, everything is close!!

Best of luck you you as you get back on track - this will be a good year!!

I'm finally catching up with some emails. It is so easy to get off track and usually hard to get back on. But you did it once so we both know you CAN DO IT! I hope 2012 turns out to be a successfull and happy year for you!

Good for you for coming back and getting into a healthy mindset again. The best part of falling off the wagon? You can always get back on. :)

Banker Chuck, You are a main reason I find myself back on sparkpeople. The person I originally lost weight with, doing spark, no longer does spark and no longer works with me due to mental illness. I have been traveling this year for work and have been alone lots! My husband has enjoyed the time I have spent with him, but it does get in the way of my focus, the guilt factor...I did notice your wife is by your side as you refocus. Give her a big bear hug, kiss, and get your body in shape for her as well as yourself!

Chuck, I know it's tough being on the road. If it wasn't for my hubby (he's a fanatic about exercise) I would have trouble, too, while we are touring. After riding all day the last thing I want to do is find a gym. We just got back from a cruise and now I'm up three pounds but prior to that I gradually put on four. So now I'm struggling with seven. I know it's not much but I'm gaining. We both have to get back on track. I felt so good and felt like I looked good at the weight I was. I know you had to, too. We can do it and I find it amazing that you can run. How fantastic that is! We CAN do it! emoticon

You can do it again . . . just recognizing that you had veered off the path is a crucial first step in the right direction.

Just pull your boots back on and get started back on the right path today. We all go back and forth on this but the biggest challenge is getting started again and not putting it off until the damage is even worse. Good luck on this journey.

I've been fluctuating myself since September. I get back on track for a time then veer off wildly in some direction that is not good or right.
You have the skills, strength, and knowledge to pull things together and make your efforts work and count toward your goals. You've done it before, I know you can do it again!

It is easier to relapse than to stick to a good routine. Strength of will and the desire to be where and whom you want to be will get you back to fighting weight. You will do it.

I am with you! I had a relapse myself, and today is only the second day of my return to SparkPeople. I gained back some of my lost weight, too. You are not alone! What's important is the fact that you're here, and that is testament to your determination. It's the first step, anyway.

It's been really hard for me to get back to my Spark habits. I've been trying for a month now. It's all will-power, baby! Come on, you can do this!
