I work with Youth at our church. Usually, a particular activity or lesson does not end up as perfect. I am learning to value improvement more than perfection. If perfection becomes the goal, then I would be driven to only accept or at least encourage participation from those youth who can already deliver. I would emphasize the youth that have things figured out and perform or behave perfectly. I recognize the fallicy of such a policy or objective. The people who really need the program are the very ones who don't yet "get it". The real celebration happens when that "ah-ha" happens. That is where I choose to place my energy and efforts.
