Yesterday I was given a cancelled appointment for a visit to my Acupuncturist. DH and I figured the previous person cancelled due to our weather forecasters warning of snow and high winds.
We set the alarm for an early rising because we expected to have to shovel. We made sure our emergency items were still in place in case of power outages and we went to bed a little earlier.
Looking out of the bedroom windows as we closed the drapes we saw the rain was very heavy. I felt we had made a big mistake but I have not had a treatment in a while and I had an issue I needed to address.
I woke up at 5am. and it was snowing. The grass was already white. I went back to bed, and I almost silenced the alarm but changed my mind, I left it set. When the alarm went off, I looked out of the bathroom window overlooking the drive and saw the drive and road were wet and clear.
Since it was 8am the commuter hour we started our 25 mile drive a little earlier, needless to say traffic was light and we arrived early for my 9am appointment.
We removed our shoes and sat in the waiting room. There is a therapy cat there and it always goes to DH. He is not a cat lover he is a big dog lover. I like cats but it totally ignored me and rubbed against DH legs purring up a storm. I found the cats attempts to be petted by DH surprisingly skillful. She knew just what to do to make him pet her and he did.
They have a therapy dog-still a pup in training and DH loves to make a fuss of her, she rolls on her back so DH can scratch her belly. I went to look at the canaries in a huge cage their singing was a real treat to hear and they sing all the time. If anyone wants silence they are covered and they stay quiet.
The treatment center is in their home and they are of course really in to Chinese culture. They have lots of books about China and lovely Chinese Art on the walls.
My Dr-he is an MD and an Acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner- accompanied me to the treatment room. There was a warm fire in the hearth and music playing, the air was very warm and fragrant it smelled of incense. I could just take a nice long nap in that room any time it is so serene and peaceful. I never think of needles when I am in there.
I had asked the Dr if he can enable me to tolerate cold.
That was what I went there for and I am hoping it will be successful.
I do love Maine but the cold really gets to me it is really bothering me now after losing weight.
I used to love to swim but getting out of the warm pool I shiver like a child. I am always cold. My normal temperature is way too low and I have never had a hot flash in my life.
I usually have needles put in my ear lobes and in my back, today it was feet and belly.
Unlike previous encounters there was no immediate obvious change. This time it will take time to discern if there is any change. So I must be patient and wait it out.
DH and I came home and he had to go to a meeting and so I have sparked most of the day. Exercise this the evening went well but now I am fasting for blood work tomorrow and DH has to also. I am rarely hungry but wouldn't you know it I am wanting to eat like never before. I think it will be a long night.
Our medical Dr. always requires 14 hour fasts and being diabetic it can be quite a challenge.
I am off to bed now. Sparking is done. Tomorrow is another day.
HUGS Pat in Maine had a very interesting day.
