17 days to go

Thursday, December 08, 2011

I am such a big kid!
17 days and counting emoticon looking forward to a White Crimbo so I build a snowman like I did a couple of years back!

We've finished clearing up over at Lilian's and her new shower room is looking spendid with the lino Pete fitted and she's really happy with it. emoticon emoticon

The house is clear, the old settee is gone from the garden, as is ALL the remaining wood and rubble from decorating, the tree and decorations are up and now I can concentrate and cooking up some mince pies and party nibbles I can freeze and take out as needed.

I've ordered the turkey and the lobster for the big day and got most of the shopping done.....bar DH's prezzie. He's insisting on slippers emoticon can you believe it? No imagination emoticon Or maybe it's just that now we are the age we are and are lucky enough to be comfortably off we have all we want/need.

He was so reluctant for the tree to go up early, but it's up. He even said not to bother with the lights around the window, but they're up too and I've seen the Christmassy Grin go over his face once or twice. Scrooge is warming emoticon

I was talking with my SIL in Canada the other day and Jackie and Vicki and it seems all our menfolk are the same. Wondering why we bother. Can't help thinking if WE didn't bother Christmas would fade into insignificance.

I think of others far less fortunate than us more than ever at this time of year and like last year have donated a place at Crisis for the homeless as has DH.

such a worthy cause.

Well that's enough ramblings, I hope your preparations are going well, if you want me I'll be slaving over a hot stove today

Merry Crimbo emoticon

You celebrate Christmas with such a joyous spirit emoticon emoticon I'd give DH his slippers - who wants cold feet coming to bed?? - along with something he wouldn't expect. You both celebrate life so well, I'm confident you'll come up with the perfect gift. Remember, it doesn't have to be a thing, it could be getting his car detailed. Anywho, the emoticon is great. Occasionally, we get enough snow in SC to make a smaller snowperson but yours is ideal emoticon

Great pic of you and your snowy friend. Hope you get your wish for another new friend this year emoticon

Sounds like you've got everything sorted and the fact that you've put a smile on the face of your 'Scrooge' (and Lilian's I imagine) is a tribute to your upbeat determination. Well done you. emoticon

Christmas emoticon

Great Blog! That snow man is bigger than you are! Lol. Great pic:-) As you know, we aren't putting up a tree this year. But whenever we do, Dave starts complaining because he has to get out our BIG artificial tree, get it together and get all the lights working on it. He dreads it EVERY year and is complaining the whole time emoticon You're such a sweet & giving person:-) Thanks for reminding us what the season is really about:-) emoticon emoticon emoticon

    My DH is the same!
As soon as I sneak a few things out ("for the kids" I can say now) he gets cranky.

Whoooohoooooooooo Caz! Love it! Snowman is awesome, and I love how organized and ready you are for the holidays. I am jealous :) We have some gifts purchased, but no decorating has been done. Sigh. That is my plan for the weekend.

Love that you donated to the homeless too. You are such a kind soul.

So, maybe the place to be is your house for Christmas.......how much for a ticket to the UK? LOL :)

Happy Holidays to you, my sweet friend!

Karen

I have our tree but is out in the rain right now... I am usually not a Christmasy spirit person having gotten that from mum, she would rather not have a tree or decorations, too much bother she would say. dad could care less another day to him. So this year for some reason, I have wanted to put it up early and decorate but man how do I put my snowmen out when there are tools all in the front entry! LOL I don't blame him cos we are at dd and that bathroom all the time, but geesh and no I can't see taking them down to the back basement at 5 and then coming up with them when we decide to go to dd. sooooooooo maybe this eve will be the tree after we go out for dinner, and can put my snowmen around other areas. hmmm what to do with my big guy he looks soo good on the top step LOL decisions ha thankfully that is the biggest decision for now. house ones we are still nto sure going to talk to dad on friday cos he asked us over for supper.
Okay hope you had time to stop slaving for a bit for some ME time! HUGS

Awesome blog!!! My DH is the same way, as are my 2 sons. I have to put up the tree and decorations by myself. My boys help me get the tree up, but I have to decorate it. Hope all is going well with you!!! Talk to you soon.... Linda

I loved this blog. You are so organised. I can imagine the lovely smell of cooking and baking wafting over the miles from yours to mine!! Do you use pot pouri and plug ins for the christmassy smells too?
I love your photo with the snowman. Doesn't look like we will have any this year at Christmas - mainly the north. Tho saying that the Daily Express mentioned Heathrow being a possible problem - no help if it comes after Christmas for me flying!!
Have a wonderful day in the kitchen.
P.S. David wants slippers too!!! And he likes my decs. He still has to put the outside lights up. emoticon emoticon
Wonderful charity site. I will donate too.
