Lessons from SpongeBob Squarepants?

Saturday, December 03, 2011

I was listening to a podcast today and the guy who voices SpongeBob Squarepants was a guest. He played what he said was the most popular song from that cartoon. The name of the song was "It's The Best Day Ever" and I found myself really listening.

The longer I listened and the more I heard, the happier I got. Weird, huh? But, if you could actually capture that feeling and keep it (keeping it is the hard part), every day really could be the best day ever. I'm really going to have to try to keep that feeling around.

Lyrics (remember to sing in your best SpongeBob Squarepants voice!)

SpongeBob SquarePants Lyrics
The best day ever Lyrics
This song is from the following Spongebob cd:

Mr. Sun came up and he smiled at me
Said "it's gonna be a good one, just wait and see"
Jumped out of bed, and I ran outside
Feeling so ecstatic, satisfied.

[Chorus]
It's the best day ever (best day ever)
It's the best day ever (best day ever)

I'm so busy, got nothing to do
Spent the last 2 hours just tying my shoe
Every flower, every grain of sand
Is reaching out out to shake my hand

[Chorus]

Sometimes the little things start closing in on me
When I'm feeling down, I wanna lose that frown
I stick my head out the window and look around
Those crowds don't scare me, they can't disguise
Its magic that's happening right before my eyes

Soon Mr. Moon will be shining bright
So the best day ever can last all night
Yeah, the best day ever's gonna last all night, now.

[Chorus x3]

LOL.. Very cute! Did you know they did a study on sponge bob? Sponge Bob Square pants effects kids who watch his show... for just NINE minutes they develop some impairment.

I am so glad you got a kick out of a song and that it lifted your day.

take care!

I read your blog yesterday and didn't have an opportunity to respond until today. Since that time the song has been stuck in my head. You see our grand daughter is a HUGE Sponge Bob fan.

You wanna know what I love the most about you? You are totally and unqualified always Barb.

Please don't ever change

Much Love

John

Oh boy! Can't tell you how many times I've heard this. My son is totally into SpongeBob and has been for years. There is a lot of truth and lessons to learn in many of the cartoons - just disguised.
That does not negate the fact, that too much SpongeBob is just plain annoying :)

We had a friend from here who was killed in a small airplane accident this year. Whenever you said, "Hi, how ya doing?" his reply was always, "It's the best day ever!" And he meant it. Not sure if he picked that up from SpongeBob, but he sure believed it. I'd do well to keep that phrase in my head, too!
