Well I had my scan done and what a pretty amazing thing that was. I wasn't sure what to expect, but in the end it was fine. I got to the hospital at 8 in the morning and was offered this liquid to drink which was a contrast agent. I think this is to help with the imaging. Then I could go walk about for an hour. When I came back I had to drink another cup of this liquid, about a pint of liquid each time. Then I got undressed and put on a gown and waited another hour. I then had to drink another pint of this liquid. At this point I was taken into the room and given an intravenous injection and put on a bed. The bed went into the scanner and I had to hold my arms above my head, not easy with a needle in your arm. The nurse released the fluid into me and told me that I would go very warm, my throat might tighten and that I would feel as if I had peed the bed. At first I thought she was joking, until it happened. What a strange feeling. She had no explanation for it happening, other than a side effect of the drug.
The scan took about 15 minutes and then it was all over. Nothing much to it really. Afterwards you just have to keep drinking fluids because the drug dehydrates you, so this was one day when I definitely got in my quota of water. Now I just have to wait for my results.
