I learned 2 new things this week that are making a major difference in my program ! I never thought I was eating too much salt, because I don't salt my food and I don't eat a lot of salty stuff like chips etc. My problem was eating hot lunch. I liked to eat a lot of canned foods like spaghettios, soup, and even canned veggies. I didn't realize that in my 1 can of soup or whatever that was the whole days amount of salt! Now I am packing cold lunches like either a big salad with chicken in it, or a sandwich, or my favorite thing is to microwave a steamer bag of broccoli or california mixed veggies and eat that at work (Only 150 calories and very low in salt even if you eat the whole 3 serving bag and very filling)!
In addition to cutting down my salt I am trying to bump up my potassium and magnesium levels. According to a book I'm reading that will help blood pressure just as much as cutting down on salt.
The other thing I learned from Jillian Michaels. I was having cheat meals and days..but personally it does make it harder for me to get back on my plan again after doing having whatever I want and I'm worried about it slowing down my progress. I am going to try what she says about having a 2,000 calorie day once a week to treat yourself-but not go nuts with it.
