Countdown #9 - Coping Strategies

List YOUR reasons/excuses on why YOUR diets and exercise plans have not been well executed in the past. OK that might be too long a list, so give 3 or 4 reasons and for each reason write a strategy that will keep you on track or cope. Let's learn from our past behaviors and make this our best Challenge ever!

Here are mine -

Diet Reason - Don't stick to a routine with meals - will eat out or not prepare a suitable meal. I am busy, get hungry and lose control about what I will eat.

Strategy - Make a weekly meal plan. Take along a suitable snack and drink. Always have a quick meal in the fridge to heat up. Drink V8 juice. Shop for groceries regularly. Think about saving $ by eating at home.

Diet Reason - When I am tired I am more impulsive about what I eat.

Strategy - Always have a quick meal in the fridge to heat up and apple slice for snacks. Drink hot chocolate.

Exercise Reason - Don't stick to a routine with exercise - travel, family obligations, tired, doing something else.

Strategy - Exercise is like 'my job' now. I need to improve my heath so I can continue to lead an active lifestyle. I must do it daily regardless of whatever else I am doing, I need to get stronger.

Exercise Reason - Don't like sticking to a plan, low impulse control?

Strategy - Accept that sometimes it is boring and do it anyway!

    I especially like (and use) Exercise is My Job - so too is shopping for healthy food (for me and my students/houseguests) and having healthy go-to snax on hand

    Lynn! I just adopted the "just do it" approach from your earlier blog! I want to get away from "exercise is my job" to doing something I love every day. But WHATEVER WORKS!

    I have also just started taking what I eat normally and cutting it in half. I snack anyway, so by cutting my regular meals down I will save calories in the end.

    Urs is choc milk,,and mine is HOT CHOC ! YUMMY !! YUMMY !! But, yet I allow this into my cals, so its really OK ! OH YEAH !! Have you ever LQQKED at my nutrition page? ITS TERRIBLE when i use it, which is NOT often,,, well not right now,,, only when we are in the challenge,,, LOL I eat sooo bad Lynn ! but I DO IT !!!! i imagine ur quite well from the sounds of it,,, I imagine ur willing to eat a FREGGIE???? SHOCK I AM NOT !!! COME ON I SAY REALLY??? IS SHE REALLY gonna do FREGGIE WEEK AGAIN? and I RUN INTO HIDING for that week (hard being a leadah, but I TRY !) LOL I TRY To convience the other leaders, that CHIPS are a VEGGIES as WELL AS CANDY CORN (made of CORN I SAY !) hey aftah 50 yrs some things WILL NOT CHANGE !!!
