Back to work and PT

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Last week I started back to work but only half days. The doc really wanted me to wait another month but that caused some issues with disability and my part time job with a tax firm. Now I'm glad they insisted-I was pooped after the first three days and very glad that I had a four-day weekend to recover! I'm not an after-Thanksgiving shopper so I slept! I think I also picked up a cold-had a runny nose along with tired and sleeping. Not a surprise since I'd been isolated for 2 months. I'm glad I had my flu shot though!

This week is also half days and Monday I went for my Physical Therapy eval. I used the same therapist back in January before surgery so she was familiar with my back issues. She had also talked to the doctor's office and is in cahoots with them-already suggesting that 3 weeks of half days may not be enough! Oh boy. Anyways, she had me riding a cycle and them doing the arm cycle just to build up endurance. Also walked the length of the building twice without my walker. And did a couple of exercises to help build up side muscles. And today I am darn sore! Didn't seem like much at the time. And she didn't want to work on the back stuff yet because they think that that has not healed enough yet. My incision is closed but still has a teeny bit of scab, so I would agree with that. Anyways, scheduled for PT twice a week until January. And I'm thinking that's going to be plenty!

We've had rain for the past two days and this afternoon it turned into snow. Our first cover this year. I know it's late, but I'm not ready to deal with winter driving yet. But it sounds like the morning drive will be a challenge!

Keep warm and take care, Diana

Sounds like you're making great progress. Slow and steady is better than going to hard and regressing. That said, it's really hard to follow the slow and steady path. Good Luck!

As long as you're on the mend, and making progress, there is plenty to be appreciative of. Keep reaching for that next goal post. And, enjoy the light snow. It's the heavy stuff that causes the real trouble.

Best wishes to you on your journey to good health and personal happiness!

I know what you mean - "didn't seem like much at the time". I wish we could tell before hand if what we are going to do will do us in later. I hope they figure it out to deal with yours needs. Insurance sometimes turns a blind eye to true need. Stamina is not easy to regain and everyone heals in THEIR own time. Take care. Blessings emoticon
